Vedanta Centre No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)
NILS provides low income earners access to interest, fees & charges free credit of up to $2000, which they may not be eligible for in the mainstream. NILS loans are provided to purchase new essential household items (white goods and furniture), to cover school fees and equipment, to buy laptops and technology, for car repairs and registration, medical and dental expenses and vet expenses. Clients may be able to borrow up to $3000 for housing-related expenses such as bond or rent-in-advance, or for recovery from a natural disaster. The NILs loans are funded by Good Shepherd.
To apply for a loan you will need to request an appointment. At the NILs appointment you will need to bring:
- 100 points proof of identity (e.g. driver’s licence or other photo ID, Medicare Card, Health Care Card);
- Proof of having resided at your current address for the past 3 months (rental statements or lease agreement);
- Current Centrelink Income Statement and/or the past 3 payslips;
- The past 3 months of transactions in bank statements for all accounts;
- Current official quotes for the items requested with the NILs loan (we pay the supplier/s directly).
