Maa Sarada’s Kitchen at the Vedanta Centre opened in March 2020 in response to the growing need for food assistance in Western Brisbane.

The aim of Maa Sarada’s Kitchen is to provide:

  1. Access to nutritious home cooked food,
  2. Community connection &
  3. Spiritual elevation of the mind, to anyone in need.

To achieve our purpose, Maa Sarada’s Kitchen operates a Soup Kitchen, Food Bank and a Café.

People come to our kitchen from all backgrounds and social strata. Everyone is welcome at Maa Sarada’s Kitchen. We especially encourage people in our community who are experiencing food insecurity, marginalisation, social isolation and unemployment.

The Kitchen is run by a team of dedicated volunteers, led by a Café Coordinator and Food Bank Coordinator. Volunteering at the Kitchen provides the opportunity to make new friendships and gain new skills. Click here to learn more about volunteering at the kitchen.

We need your support To run our food program we rely on public donations. Our hope is that from food, we can support one another as a community to be healthy in body, mind and spirit. Please consider donating what you can today. $5 sponsors a meal for someone in need.
